Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī (1207–1273), commonly known simply as Rumi, was a 13th-century Persian poet, Islamic scholar, theologian, and Sufi mystic whose writings on divine love and spiritual devotion have made him one of the most widely read poets in the world.
