Desmon Doss joined the US Military to save lives and refused to kill or even carry a weapon - causing him to be called a coward. Choosing to act as a medic he saved over 75 lives in a single day by exhibiting superhuman bravery due to his faith in God.

He even rolled off his stretcher while injured to save a wounded soldier after he kicked away a live grenade to save his friends.

"He was one of the bravest men alive, and to have him save my life was the irony of the whole thing" said one of his critics.
