The Last 250 Meters
"Near the end of his 2018 London Marathon race, Welsh competition runner Matthew Rees saw fellow competitor David Wyeth in trouble, exhausted, and about to collapse just meters from the finish. Instead of sprinting past to claim his place, Rees stopped, wrapped an arm around him, and helped him stay on his feet so Wyeth could finish the final part of the marathon. In a moment that tested his own goals, Rees chose a stranger’s dignity and safety over his personal best, showing that true strength can mean slowing down to lift someone else up."
