Life-saving medical care for vulnerable children

An American physician who originally went to Ethiopia on a brief relief mission in the 1980s, Dr. Hodes chose to permanently stay. For over three decades he has served as a medical director in Addis Ababa, specializing in treating children with severe spinal deformities, tuberculosis, and heart disease.

Beyond just treating patients, he chose to legally adopt over 20 Ethiopian children who needed long-term, intensive medical care and a stable home, integrating his professional mission completely into his personal family life.
