F1 Heroes

At the 1976 German Grand Prix, driver Niki Lauda suffered a horrific crash that left his Ferrari trapped in a roaring blaze on the Nürburgring track. Recognizing the immediate danger to their peer's life, rival drivers Arturo Merzario, Brett Lunger, Guy Edwards, and Harald Ertl selflessly stopped their own cars and rushed into the intense heat and smoke to pull Lauda out of the burning wreckage. Thanks to their quick, heroic actions, Lauda barely survived his critical injuries and made a legendary return to racing just six weeks later.
