Casey Jones

Casey Jones is an American folk hero who sacrificed his life to save his passengers.

Around 4am on April 30, 1900 his train rounded a bend in Mississippi at full speed when he encountered another train stalled on the track.

He ordered his fellow engineer to jump to safety while he managed the brakes, slowing the train as much as possible before collision.

Thanks to his bravery everyone survived, except for Casey, who died in the collision.
